Welcome to a Tour of Sanderstead Lawn Tennis & Social Club

Sanderstead LTC is one of the larger Clubs in the South Croydon & Purley area. It is also very accessible in having a long frontage onto Penwortham Road, giving ample and easy free parking.

The entrance leads directly into our Club House which is a single storey but multi-functional building. The entrance and main corridor connect all the main functional areas. First of all is the Lounge and Bar, which has a sliding french window leading to a patio which overlooks our show courts. This large Lounge seats 30 or more comfortably.

 

Next to the Lounge, and separated by a number of doors which can be opened, is a large Function room which is used for meetings, receptions, Tennis parties, dining as well as being the room for the Table Tennis and Whist sections of the Club. The walls are adorned with our "Winners" boards which go back as far as 1904.

Beyond the Function room is another meeting room which leads into our well-stocked Kitchen with serious capacity... including two ovens... and other appliances and equipment as befits a Club with a busy social membership.

We have shower, changing and toilet facilities for Ladies and Men, including a toilet for the disabled. There is also an Office which is used by the Coaching staff as well as Club officials.

There is a garden and barbecue area outside which is used throughout the summer (weather willing!) and has tables and benches for watching the tennis, eating and drinking or just relaxing.

We have six Tennis Courts comprising two porous acrylic cushioned hard courts, one traditional porous acrylic tarmacadam hard court and three synthetic grass carpet courts. These courts are maintained regularly and we have a cycle of replacement every 10 or so years. Our two show courts - the porous cushioned hard acrylic courts - also have full Floodlighting, using modern lights designed to eliminate nearly all light back-throw. One of these courts has a practice wall at one end.
